Job Summary

Blue Ridge Networks is an established leader in high-security network products and system solutions. The company pioneered cryptographically enforced protection for data-in-motion over a decade ago for use in the most security-conscious federal agencies and commercial enterprises.

Blue Ridge is looking for a Director of Product Management who is an aggressive, process-oriented, self-motivated individual who enjoys working with cross-functional teams in a fast-paced, innovative work environment to create and deliver products that manifest the company’s vision.

Position Profile:

Reports to the SVP of Business Strategy. Defines product roadmaps by evaluating the current product portfolio, market requirements, market competition, customer needs, engineering estimates, required certifications, and other product-oriented plans. Creates buy-in for the product vision, both internally and with key external partners. Defines high-level product requirements and coordinates the creation of production timelines. Determines product pricing, product positioning and coordinates plans and strategies for product introduction with the Sales and Marketing teams. Is responsible for the product release process, and works with the QA team, Engineering and other product stakeholders to identify and meet key release milestones. Works semi-autonomously, defining and meeting long-term project goals without extensive supervision.

Responsibilities and Duties

Other tasks will include:

  • Manage product security and environmental certification projects.
  • Develop product data sheets and product documentation
  • Identify and track prototyping tasks to validate additions to the product portfolio
  • Represent the company by visiting customers and partners to solicit feedback on products and services

Qualifications and Skills

Experience and Skills Requirements:

  • Proven work experience in product management
  • Proven track record of managing all aspects of a successful product throughout its lifecycle
  • Proven ability to develop product and marketing strategies and effectively communicate recommendations to executive management
  • Solid technical background with understanding and/or hands-on experience with product development and certification activities
  • Strong problem solving skills and willingness to roll up one’s sleeves to get the job done
  • Skilled at working effectively with cross functional teams
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills MS/BS in Computer Science or Engineering or an equivalent technical discipline.

Blue Ridge Networks Inc. seeks a mid-senior-level Linux Embedded / Firmware Engineer with a demonstrated track record of designing and implementing Linux-based solutions on embedded devices. Candidates will need to have the ability to troubleshoot and solve software issues in an open-source environment. Additionally, an emphasis will be placed on integrating and extending existing Linux services. The Engineer will take part in the technical activities for projects at Blue Ridge Networks Inc. in the challenging world of cyber security in Industrial Control Systems (ICS) and Internet of Things (IOT).

  • Work as part of a team to create and develop novel technical solutions in the rapidly changing area of cybersecurity protection for critical infrastructure
  • Develop solutions that span design, implementation, testing, and through field deployment

Desired Skills and Experience

  • 8-10 years of experience developing embedded software, especially using LINUX
  • Strong in C and Python programming skills
  • Understanding of cryptography, or desire to learn this field
  • Good understanding of common network protocols, such as TCP/IP, UDP, IPv6, and Ethernet – Linux networking stack
  • Understand software engineering and how to develop high quality software and the needed processes
  • Experience developing software solutions consisting of multiple interacting threads or processes and understanding how software runs on hardware devices
  • Extensive architecture, design and implementation experience, including debugging skills on embedded platforms
  • Ability to work on a new project where certain aspects may include unfamiliar technology that will require investigation and learning
  • Ability to design test strategies and test code to diagnose problems and validate new code
  • Ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously and work independently
  • Familiarity with development tools such as cross-compilation and, source control (git)
  • Ability to provide detailed status reports when requested by the Manager
  • Excellent problem solving skills and good team player
  • BS/MS in Computer Science (or equivalent)

Other Desirable skills

  • Experience in development methodologies and Software life cycle methodologies
  • Good interaction skills with the engineering and management team
  • Knowledge of Open Embedded build tools
  • Go-getter attitude
