What are Parental Controls
Enforces AppGuard policies on users with or without local admin rights (see AppGuard Help for more information).
Ignore Messages
Users can right-click on blocking events in AppGuard Status window and tell AppGuard to no longer report them or cause the AppGuard tray icon to blink. Instructing AppGuard to ‘ignore’ events does not reduce protection because AppGuard continues to block them.
MBRguard Integrated with AppGuard
MBRguard is installed with AppGuard. MBRguard can be enabled/disabled via AppGuard checkbox, requires Windows restart to take effect.
User-Space Protection Enhancements
Formerly known as Drive-by Download Protection, Blue Ridge felt a name-change was appropriate and has added additional protections that block the following from launching from user-space:
- Visual Basic Script Files (.vbs)
- OLE Control eXtension Files (.ocx)
- Batch Files (.bat)
- Command Files (.cmd, .com)
- PowerShell Script Files (.ps1)
What is MemoryGuard™
MemoryGuard is an advanced protection against sophisticated attacks whereby either a compromised legitimate process running in a process or an unauthorized process running in a PC injects code into the memory of another process, usually a legitimate one. Attackers do so to elude detection, by-pass personal firewalls restricting network access, steal information, and or many other reasons. Download the MemoryGuard Tech Sheet for more information on how it protects computers from zero-day malware attacks.
Note to Beta testers: Please report any 3rd party software that no longer operates normally as a result of MemoryGuard.
What is InstallGuard
The primary purpose of InstallGuard is to block MSI based malware attacks. When parental controls are available (version 2.0 release), InstallGuard can also be used to prevent users with local admin rights from installing software that uses MSI files during installation process (much 3rd party software).
- Prevents MSI based software installations regardless of MSI file location
- Allows Microsoft Digitally Signed MSI Installations/Patches
- User can suspend
Note to Beta testers: Please report 3rd party software software updates/patches affected by InstallGuard.
Supported Operating Systems
- 64 Bit and 32 Bit Windows 7
- 32 Bit Windows Vista Service Pack 1
- Blue Ridge did confirm that the Beta agent will operate on 64 Bit Windows Vista. However, Blue Ridge will not guarantee future compatibility with 64 bit Windows Vista.
