RemoteLink

What is RemoteLink?

RemoteLink is the first plug-and-play device that works with any network and over any communication medium to secure the enterprise regardless of where it reaches. Its simple approach to secure remote access provides individuals, mobile work teams, and small remote offices an impenetrable enterprise data network extension.

As part of the BorderGuard family, RemoteLink extends your network security to each device as if it were at headquarters—extending your network beyond your walls and allowing you to leverage new technology, legacy systems, and any communication medium. RemoteLink gives organizations the freedom to integrate remote locations and workers into their network and IT professionals the confidence that these connections will not compromise security of the network.

You Need RemoteLink If...

RemoteLink solves a myriad of problems for users everywhere. You need RemoteLink if you find yourself thinking…

  • I'm paying too much for expensive networking services like private line, Frame Relay, or satellite. A cheaper one with comparable security would do.
  • I don’t have enough IT staff to configure equipment at all of my remote locations.
  • I pay for an expensive satellite service, and I need to ensure highly secure transmissions that work when I need them.
  • I must employ a variety of carriers to connect all of my locations, so I need something with the flexibility to accommodate what’s available where I need it.
  • I’ve been using a VPN to connect my remote locations, but my equipment and/or service isn’t compliant with existing or upcoming security regulations that affect my industry.
  • I need to run secure VoIP and video (or any latency sensitive applications) at my remote locations, but I need something that meets my bandwidth and latency requirements.
  • I need to harden the network security of my remote locations, but I can’t afford the corresponding increased costs.
  • I need to rapidly deploy field offices, and I’m on a limited budget. I’d like to use a managed service.

Key RemoteLink Features/Benefits

  • Impenetrable Security — enhanced Internet key exchange protocol ensures RemoteLink is immune to all attacks
  • Compliance with Industry Regulations — including DoD PKI, HSPD-12, PCI, HIPAA, and Sarbanes-Oxley
  • Zero End User Configuration — plug-and-play design enables non-IT users to turn up small offices, remote offices, and portable offices in minutes with no assistance from your local IT administrators and no disruption to your network
  • Network Independence — extend your Ethernet switch to remote locations over any available network such as broadband, satellite, and shared Internet
  • Software Independence — eliminates compatibility issues and allows RemoteLink to secure devices like locked-down personal computers
  • Affordable Scalability — deploy thousands of RemoteLink devices quickly and with little IT intervention

Who Uses Blue Ridge Networks RemoteLink?

  • Enterprises with small offices where dozens of users need to connect quickly to headquarters
  • Retail stores requiring secure data transmissions from retail outlets and other locations to the district or home office
  • Healthcare institutions with a need to secure patient information and transactions among offices
  • Legal and accounting firms with needs for private virtual offices for small teams within client facilities with no local IT assistance
  • Civilian Government Agencies who need to ensure continuity of operations with telework policies
  • Department of Defense and Homeland Security who need the ability to establish ad hoc field offices anywhere

How Does RemoteLink Work?

RemoteLink is a plug-and-play device that requires no configuration by end-users. To establish a secure tunnel, a user inserts an administrator-generated USB smart card into the device. RemoteLink automatically acquires an IP address from the local network, sparing your local administrators from the need to allocate network resources.

How Secure is RemoteLink?

RemoteLink uses the most stringent security features available including SE-IKE — a security enhanced Internet key exchange method that encrypts tunnel handshake messages within a mandatory, mutual public key authentication process. RemoteLink enables worry-free communications over any trusted or untrusted networks because it is immune to all known attacks, including:

  • VPN device identity spoofing
  • Man-in-the-middle attacks
  • Protocol attacks
  • Insider threats
  • All other active and passive attacks

RemoteLink does not store cryptographic information or network details in the device. All network credentials are kept on the user’s USB smart card, so your network cannot be compromised if the device is lost or stolen. If a user’s USB smart card is lost or stolen, simply suspend the user’s digital certificate until the smart card is located or the user is given new credentials.
