Microsoft® NAP Integration with EdgeGuard™
Blue Ridge Networks has partnered with Microsoft to provide administrators with a comprehensive set of health checks that assess the security risks corporate and guest PCs pose to an organization’s information assets before they are granted access to the network.
Rapidly Deploy Out-of-the-Box Health Checks with Auto Remediation - Keep Off-Enterprise PCs Secure
- Secure PCs from End-users with Admin Rights
- Stop Malware that Legacy AntiVirus Misses
Out-of-the-Box Health Checks with Auto Remediation
- Ensure client security software running and current
- Identify missing security patches
- Administer required/forbidden software
- Control removable media read/write
- Manage security configuration settings
- Develop custom health check scripts
Keep Off-Enterprise PCs Secure
EdgeGuard also monitors and enforces endpoint security policies for off-enterprise PCs. EdgeGuard will assess the threat posed by the endpoint and enforce the appropriate policy which can include quarantining the PC as well as auto-remediating the deficiency. Policies can be location specific to enable the appropriate level of control over the assessment and remediation process.
Secure PCs from End-users with Admin Rights
For those organizations that must allow some or all of their end-users to have admin rights on their PCs, EdgeGuard can monitor and enforce policies that reduce the associated risks. End-users with admin rights cannot override or alter EdgeGuard policies prescribed by IT personnel. These policies include application control, removable media read/write control, security configuration settings, and more.
Stop Malware that Legacy AntiVirus Misses
EdgeGuard protects PCs from the zero-day malware and re-crafted malware that signature-based products cannot detect. EdgeGuard protects PCs without generating false positives or requiring the administrator fine-tuning common to HIPS products. End-users are freed from making security decisions. Client software, including often compromised ActiveX controls, are no longer vulnerable and can run as they were intended. EdgeGuard also blocks malware attacks from USB thumb drives and other media
Microsoft Network Access Protection (NAP)
Microsoft NAP is a policy enforcement technology built into the Windows Vista, Windows XP SP3, and Windows Server 2008 operating systems that allows customers to better protect network assets from unhealthy computers by enforcing compliance with network health policies.
Manlio Vecchiet, group product manager, security and access product marketing at Microsoft says, “Blue Ridge technology, working with Network Access Protection, will benefit customers by heightening confidence that high standards of security technology are helping to protect an organization’s endpoints in a cost-effective, rapid and flexible process."
Blue Ridge includes a System Health Agent (SHA) and System Health Validator (SHV) in all EdgeGuard deployments.
