Blue Ridge Networks BorderGuard Technology Certified As Compliant with All Mandated DoD PKI Requirements

BorderGuard is Only the Second VPN to Receive JITC Certification

CHANTILLY, Va.- June 5, 2006 - Blue Ridge Networks, the premier provider of secure communications products and managed VPN services, announced today that its BorderGuard technology has achieved certification from the Joint Interoperability Test Command (JITC) of the Defense Information Systems Agency that confirms its interoperability with the U.S. Department of Defense (DoD) Public Key Infrastructure (PKI).

The JITC certified that Blue Ridge Networks Public Key-Enabled BorderGuard 6660 complies with the mandatory applicable requirements for PKI interoperability as defined by the DoD. They conducted the test at their Fort Huachuca, Arizona, PKE Application Laboratory in late March and early April.

The BorderGuard 6000 series leverages an organization's PKI, including DoD and X.509 certificate authorities as well as OCSP responders and CRL checking to eliminate inefficient manual configuration. Combining ironclad protection with advanced remote management capabilities, BorderGuard provides an optimal blend of security and convenience and supports both remote and site-to-site connections.

"We are pleased to add JITC certification to our long list of defense and intelligence accreditations," noted Blue Ridge Networks' CEO Tony Russo. "We take a great deal of pride not only in designing our offerings with the government sector's more stringent security requirements in mind, but also in delivering solutions that are tailored to deploy as quickly and as simply as possible within government agencies."

BorderGuard is among the most highly compliant and interoperable mobile access solutions in the marketplace, as one of the only secure VPN offerings to earn several certifications and equipment validations. BorderGuard has been relied upon for more than 11 years by some of the most risk-averse and geographically dispersed organizations in the world, including portions of the United States intelligence community. Because the BorderGuard 6000 series maintains full interoperability with any PKCS#11 smart card or USB token, it is fully compliant with HSPD-12, providing two-factor authentication that far exceeds security levels attainable via passwords alone.
