Senior Embedded Firmware Engineer (Linux)

Position Description:
Blue Ridge Networks is seeking a Sr. Embedded Firmware Engineer that has a demonstrated ability to design and implement Linux-based firmware applications for a full-time position at our Chantilly office. Qualified individuals will work in a small team environment tasked with developing our next generation network platform.
Candidates should be a good team player; however, they should also be able to work independently, handle multiple tasks and provide periodic status updates. They should have a strong ability to troubleshoot software issues in open-source environments, including the ability to integrate and extend existing Linux services in embedded solutions.
Qualifications and Experience:
Prefer BS/BA in an Engineering discipline, Computer Science, Mathematics or equivalent technical field.
8-12 years of experience in developing embedded systems
Candidates should have extensive experience in the following areas:
- Strong C programming skills
- Expert in embedded Linux
- Extensive experience in design, implementation and debugging embedded systems
- Experience in porting Linux applications, and developing device drivers
- Ability to define test strategies and test code to diagnose problems and validate new modules
- Excellent problem solving skills
Additional consideration / preference will be given to candidates who have experience or familiarity with the following:
- Good understanding of common communications protocols (e.g. TCP/IP)
- Experience in Linux multithreaded application development
- Experience with Python development
